Pitching & Call for Pitch Abstracts

Are you a TECHNOLOGY OWNER (to-be-start-up, start-up, SME) looking for finance, partners and/or end-users? Seize the opportunity and apply for a 7 minutes pitch to present your innovative solution in front of an exclusive audience of potential partners and investors.

Are you an INVESTOR eager to pitch your fund? We give you the occasion during the REVERSE-PITCHING sessions on the opening day of the conference. We aim at an attendance of 50+ investors and herewith invite them all to present their fund and investment thesis (focus industries, ticket size, geographies, potential added-value…) during a pitch. Investors with a desire to pitch can contact Anneleen.De.Vriendt@bbeu.org to request a pitch slot.

Pitch Sessions Topics for TECHNOLOGY OWNERS

The event will host 2 pitch sessions for investor pitches on the opening day of the conference (30 November 2026) and 9 or 12 pitch sessions of 90 minutes each for technology owners on the second day of the conference (1 December 2026).

This means that, next to the investor pitches, we are looking for 100+ inspiring technology pitches. Each of these sessions will have a specific focus:

Call for Abstracts

The call for pitch abstracts will open on June 4th, 2026 and close on October 16th, 2026 (Midnight). Submit your abstract timely and become one of the selected technology pitchers that will shape our 2026 program.

Coaching

Selected companies in the Start-ups/SMEs looking for finance sessions will benefit from online coaching to prepare the perfect pitch. We strongly recommend all pitching companies to attend this online session, it is scheduled on November 3th, 2026 from 11 am – 12 pm. All pitchers will automatically receive an invite to attend this webinar.

In the meantime, valuable tips, tricks and recordings can be found below:
Please note that, after careful consultation with our investors, we recommend C-level representation for a “looking for finance” pitch.

Matchmaking

DAY 1 – 30 November 2026

Join us for a day of informal networking and matchmaking. Attend our keynote, investor pitches and speed dating sessions and connect during the breaks and informal walking dinner with start-ups, scale-ups, SMEs, large enterprises, research organisations, investors, clusters and many other stakeholders who are part of the innovation chain and together shape the biobased economy. B2B partnering software (Swapcard) will be available from 7 pm to 11 pm.

DAY 2 – 1 December 2026

Partake in a unique and exclusive matchmaking event, supported by B2B partnering software (Swapcard) and connecting start-ups, scale-ups, SMEs, large enterprises, research organisations, investors, and many other stakeholders who are part of the innovation chain and together shape the biobased economy.

All participants will have full control of their own communications and 1-on-1 meetings via a secure login account. The software enables event attendees to pre-arrange business partnering meetings of 20 minutes each arranged around 40 matchmaking tables.

The SWAPCARD matchmaking tool will be activated by November 16th, 2026.

Any questions on the matchmaking can be addressed to Anneleen.De.Vriendt@bbeu.org.

DAY 3 – 2 December 2026

Informal networking and matchmaking between start-ups, SMEs, corporates and investors continues during the “Scale-up Experience Day” for Start-Ups, SMEs and (Corporate) Investors” at the Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant.

Innovation scouting

This joint event aims to attract top notch European innovators, start-ups and spin-offs from the biobased sector to present their solution/product/service concepts to the participants of the event including corporates and investors. At the same time the event will give the opportunity to corporates to propose challenges that can be solved via a bioeconomy approach, filtering needs according to specific priority areas (problem-solution-expected benefits).

Networking

The Pitch Perfect and Boost the European Bioeconomy event goes far beyond “simply” matching promising start-ups and SMEs with investors in an international context. In addition to the industry and investors, present in large numbers (see figure below), various other type of stakeholders that support companies along the innovation chain participate: pilot facilities, research institutes, potential public project partners, services providers, SME helpdesks, clusters, funding bodies, consultants and even policy makers.

The networking is supported by a dedicated B2B tool (SWAPCARD) and a concise but spacy, well-structured venue, based on a large central “Atrium” hosting all breaks, catering and exhibition and a number of meeting and matchmaking rooms directly connected to the central “meet-up” space.

To get an idea of the international bioeconomy network we bring together, check out the figures below.

12.11.2026: Webinar: Science to Market: Integrating Pilot-Scale Development, Logistics and LCA for Biobased Products

12.11.2026, 10 am - 11.30 pm
Online
Access for all

Objectives of the Webinar

Key project activities of the ToBeReal project include the analysis of bioeconomy trends, barriers and drivers across Europe, with an emphasis on underdeveloped regions. This webinar will give an overview of the other activity ToBeReal is offering: tailor-made assistance in four key areas, for start-ups and already existing initiatives that want to turn local, bio-based resources into valuable valorizations:

  • Technical: New technologies, scalability and environmental impact assessments.
  • Business and finance: Market strategies, financing options and business model development.
  • Regulatory: Addressing legal and political barriers specific to each region.
  • Social innovation: Fostering social acceptance and stakeholder engagement.

From ideation to the market launch of a biobased product – Speaker(s): Bart Van Droogenbroeck (ILVO)

Successfully launching a new bio-based product requires overcoming several “valleys of death” along the innovation journey. The Food Pilot and ILVO’s Technology and Food Science Unit support process and product development through a one-stop-shop approach, offering state-of-the-art pilot-scale testing facilities complemented by well-equipped analytical laboratories.

During this webinar, the speakers will showcase their expertise and demonstrate how their support can help accelerate innovation and market readiness.

Smart logistics enabling circular biobased economies– Speaker(s): Annelies De Meyer/Ruben Guisson (VITO)

Logistics and biomass mobilisation are key considerations when starting, scaling, or redesigning biobased supply chains. The MooV team at VITO supports the search for optimal supply chain configurations aligned with business needs and requirements. This pitch will showcase mixed bio-waste streams from the agri-food industry.

LCA to underpin biobased sustainability claims – Speaker(s): Gail Shuttleworth/Lucy Montgomery (Alder BioInsights)

Sustainability credentials are key selling points for biobased products and innovations. Alder BioInsights will show how their LCA work enables companies to make credible and transparent sustainability claims, demonstrating measurable environmental value to customers and investors.

30.11.26: The ProteInn Club Industrial Sounding Board Meeting

Monday November 30th, 10 am - 1 pm
Sheraton Brussels Airport
By invitation only

The ProteInn Club is a collaboration between Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant, Ghent University, the Flanders Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food (ILVO), and CAPTURE. The club’s ambition is to facilitate innovations and accelerate the development of a unique fermentation-based protein ecosystem. Members of the Industrial Sounding Board are positioned at various points within the value chain of fermentation-based proteins. On the one hand, there are companies developing fermentation processes, while on the other, there are companies producing side streams that can be used as feedstock for these processes, and companies interested in incorporating fermentation-based proteins into their end products. The overall goals of the club are to connect the partners along this value chain, foster the developing ecosystem, and raise awareness about fermentation-derived proteins.

During this event, the core team of The ProteInn Club will link up with the full Industrial Sounding Board to discuss the latest developments in the fermentation-based protein landscape. Topics can include updates on ongoing projects, interesting upcoming funding calls, policy briefs, and the presentation of new ProteInn Club members.

This is a private event. Attendance by invitation only, limited to members of:
